The days of rolling out of bed on a Saturday morning and popping bland frozen waffles into the toaster to act as transport vehicles for syrup and butter are behind us. Now, don't get me wrong, when I was a child that is exactly what was done for me and I loved every. single. bite! The problem with doing that in today's Waffle World is twofold: 1) it now feels like a requirement to make decadent, Instagram-worthy meals and perhaps, more importantly, 2) waffles are no longer relegated to merely being a breakfast staple because they've proven that they can be enjoyed no matter the time of day.
Our goal here at Press Waffle Co. has always been to teach America “A New Way To Waffle”! To do that all of our recipes are based on the sometimes elusive, yet always delicious, Liege waffle. While these terrific treats are perfect with just a dusting of powdered sugar, we like to pile the toppings on to make the greatest waffle creations imaginable. Breakfast
While it's true we are attempting to break away from tired breakfast stereotypes, there are some amazing ways to spice up your morning waffle!
1. The American
Out of all of our amazing creations I'll start with the one that I dream about! This perfect all-in-one breakfast features melded cheddar cheese, perfectly cooked bacon bits, an over-easy egg that's cooked to order, and a drizzling of maple syrup. It might not be for those that don't want their food to touch, but for those with no such qualms, this is the breakfast that dreams are made of!
2. The "Fruit Salad"
Because of the caramelization from the pearl sugar in Liege waffles, you don't necessarily have to go overboard with the sweetness for it to be delicious. With that in mind, you can always pile your waffle with your favorite fruits (in our case strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries) and then top it off with some whipped cream! If you're feeling especially bold, making your own whipped cream can take the whole experience to the next level.
3. Cereal Waffles
Honestly, what could be better than combining two of the greatest breakfast foods of all time? These waffles are always a hit with both kiddos and adults alike and are possibly the easiest creations to make on this list. An additional bonus with these super fun waffles is that the sky is the limit when it comes to possible combinations, so get creative!
Brunch/Lunch
We're now moving into an area of waffle creations that can cause some to be hesitant… but if you're willing to be a little adventurous, I promise you won't be disappointed!
4. Chicken & Waffles; (aka the O.G. of savory waffles)
While this combination is well-known, there truly is a reason that this classic has become so popular over the years. We think crispy, fried chicken tenders with classic maple syrup and a bacon crumble garnish for that extra pop of flavor is the way to go, but there are so many possibilities that you really can't go wrong.
5. Monte Cristo Waffle Sandwich
Growing up one of my Mom's favorite things in the world was a Monte Cristo sandwich and she gets this amazing waffle every time she comes and visits me at work! You might be thinking, "Hey, isn't that supposed to be deep-fried?" But even though this doesn't follow the original recipe perfectly, the crispiness from the caramelized waffle makes you forget all about that.
6. Grilled Cheese with a Tomato Bisque
Stuff your favorite cheeses in-between two halves of a golden Liege waffle (with a little garlic butter for that extra special pizzazz), to create a perfectly sweet and savory lunch. Pair it with your favorite tomato bisque to get the full grilled cheese experience!

This is an area of the waffle realm that I think anyone can get behind, but that doesn't mean it's boring! These desserts are sure to impress anyone you're trying to serve.
7. The House
Behold, the holy grail of waffle creations! This is the menu item that put us on the map, got us our deal on Shark Tank, and will never be usurped as the best seller. I mean honestly, how could you go wrong with this one? (Pro tip – get yourself a strawberry slicer to really speed up the process).
8. S'MORES
Take the classic camping dessert to the next level by pairing it with a waffle. This one is sure to satisfy even those with the biggest of sweet-tooths, so be a little self-indulgent and enjoy! How to toast those mallows without an actual fire? Get yourself a culinary torch.
9. Southern Belle
Did you look at the first two suggested desserts and think to yourself, "Wow, those look amazing, but I don't know if I want to do so much sweetness"? If so, this is the waffle for you! Light and fresh, with the perfect amount of tang, this is the go-to for those who are trying to avoid a sugar coma.
10. Get creative!
The best thing about Liege waffles is that the combinations you can come up with are endless! When I got married, my now-wife and I decided to forgo the cake and do a waffle bar and let me tell you it was a huge hit! Break out all of your favorite toppings and let your family decorate their waffle exactly how they see fit. It'll be the most fun, and delicious, experience you've had in a long time!
